July 21, 2011 News

Hello football fans,

On behalf of all at Tavistock AFC, I just wanted to say a big thank you to those of you who braved the rain and made it down to Langsford Park for our pre-season opener against QPR. I know that the game may have been a little bit one-sided, with Tavistock losing 0-13, but it was clear from comments being made around the ground that the lads could not have done more, the pitch was the best it has been in years and the welcome and facilities very much appreciated by all who came along.

Once again, we very much enjoyed hosting QPR and extend our thanks and best wishes for the season ahead to Neil Warnock, his team and their support staff for their conduct both on and off the pitch, especially when taking the time to meet and greet so many of our younger supporters.  Also, the QPR fans did their team proud, showing humility, respect and good humour and we would gladly welcome them back next season.

Finally, we would like to thank the matchday officials, our sponsors, the volunteers from Tavistock AFC, Tavistock Community Football Club and The Lions Club of Tavistock, our official matchday photographers, Foto-Jenik, and the army of news and sports reporters who have been spreading the word before, during and since the game.  Match report and photos to follow soon…

And should you like to order any souvenir match programmes, we do have some left and they will be sold at the princely sum of £3 plus p&p (price for postage dependent on quantity required). Copies can be requested via our email: or purchased directly from the Red & Black Club.

Our next first-team match is against Topsham Town this Saturday, 23rd July at 7.00pm, with Tavistock also facing a Plymouth Argyle XI, next Friday, 29th July at 7.30pm, the latter being a testimonial game for Andy Meeds.  Details for all fixtures are available via Tavistock AFC’s website,

Thank you,

Chris Fenner
TAFC Volunteer
