In two days Tavistock AFC will play their fifth qualifying game of their 2017/18 Emirates FA Cup campaign, when they host Frome Town FC on Saturday.
The previous qualifying round, against Taunton Town FC, saw the Lambs force a replay when they ended the game 2-2 in front of a home crowd of 360. A few days later they travelled up to Taunton and, following an exhilarating game, they secured their place in the next round with a 2-1 win.
This latest stage, which the Lambs will play against the Southern Football League Premier Division side on Saturday, is the Second Qualifying Round, putting them 10 games away from the end goal of a trip to Wembley.
The last time the Lambs reached this stage was 62 years ago.
It’s a privilege to be managing a group of great lads who have a real togetherness and belief,” expressed Stuart, Manager of Tavistock AFC Firsts.
“The spirit showed in the win against Taunton will only bind the lads closer together, which to me is one of the most successful ingredients in creating and maintaining a successful squad.
“Frome are an excellent side and their recent result against Banbury demonstrated further that we shall be in for a very hard afternoon. No one is expecting anything from us, playing a team 3 leagues higher than ourselves, I will ask our players to express themselves and be positive in their approach.
“We’ve had fantastic support so far on this journey and we hope even more will come along this Saturday.”
On Saturday, the competitive teams will walk out onto the pitch to a guard of honour by the under 10s Tavistock Community Football Club team and Horrabridge Rangers’ under 12s team. Both teams will assist as ball boys throughout the match and have the opportunity to support a penalty shoot out at half time.

Children under 12, accompanied by a paying adult, have free entry into the FA Cup game and concessions are also available. Tickets will be available to purchase at the Langsford Park gate.
Tavistock AFC reached the third qualifying round of the Cup in 1954/55.
