THE LAMBS TO HOST PLYMOUTH ARGYLE AT LANGSFORD PARK THIS SUMMER
The boots and kits have yet to be hung up for the end of the 2017/18 season for the Tavistock AFC squad but that doesn’t stop us looking ahead towards our pre-season, where it is with great pleasure to announce our first confirmed game will be against League One side, Plymouth Argyle FC this summer.
As part of their pre-season fixture list, the Greens will pay a visit to Langsford Park on Saturday 14 July (3.00pm KO), whilst on their eight-game tour of the Westcountry.
“It’s always a great atmosphere when Plymouth Argyle come to Langsford Park,” expresses Stuart Henderson, Manager of Tavistock AFC. “This game will be a great occasion for everyone concerned with Tavistock AFC and it’s a good opportunity for the Plymouth Argyle fans to see the new players that Derek Adams has assembled for the 2018/19 season.
“Derek has had a fantastic season, and nobody at Christmas, outside those at Home Park, would have forecast they would be challenging for a play-off place at the business end of the season.
“It will be both interesting and mouth-watering for the ‘Green Army’ to see the new players, in preparation for the season ahead.
“There are strong links between Plymouth Argyle and Tavistock AFC, with Plymouth Argyle Academy using the facilities out here in Crowndale, Tavistock, and the Under 18s using the facilities here at Langford Park. With Plymouth Argyle Reserves in the Peninsula League, and six of the current ‘Sexy Lambs’ squad that work in Plymouth Argyle Community Trust programme, this along with the fact that the likes of Dan Evans, Warren Daw, Josh Grant, Tallan Burns, Reece Shanley were all at Argyle as Schoolboys.
“So all these ingredients should amount to a fantastic pre-season friendly, where supporters of the Sexy Lambs will be able to view any new signings, as we look to mount another title challenge and a successful campaign for the forthcoming season.”
