Henderson’s Lambs are ready for a tough run-in Slimbridge are the visitors to Langsford Park

IT IS all to play for at Tavistock with the Lambs having seven games remaining and with every chance of making the end of season play-offs in Southern League Division One South.

The Lambs crashed out of the St Luke’s Devon Challenge Cup in midweek, losing on penalties to Tiverton Town, while in the league, they have recorded back-to-back victories over leaders Sholing and play-off rivals Bashley. It is a very different challenge facing Stuart Henderson’s side on Saturday as they welcome rock bottom Slimbridge to Langsford Park knowing it is a great chance to get points on the board with much tougher opposition to come between now and the end of the season.

“The play-offs are our priority, but we have a really tough run-in,” Henderson said. “I know I have said there are no easy games in this league and whether you are at the top or towards the bottom, every team in our league still has something to play for, whether it is play-offs, winning the league, or staying up and it is so tight, so there is something riding on every game.

“We have to go to Totton, who are the best team in the league in my opinion; we have to go to Sholing, who are currently the leaders; and we have two Devon derby’s against Willand at home and Exmouth away – we have a terrible record at Exmouth over the years – and Willand beat us earlier in the season, so they are four really tough games.

“We then have three other games, all against teams that have something to play for and they will be difficult as well, but we just have to go into each one and just concentrate on one game at a time and see where it takes us. But I believe, if we can get ten points out of the 21 available, that will see us into the play-offs.”

Henderson added: “This position is what you want though and we said that to the boys. We are heading into the last month of the season and we are playing for something. There are going to be twists and turns along the way, no doubt, but hopefully we can be there or thereabouts, come the end of the season.”
