MATCH PREVIEW: Tavistock AFC vs Bishops Cleeve

Five league matches unbeaten and three clean sheets in a row see The Lambs keep marching on.

After enjoying their second win in a row last weekend against Paulton Rovers The Lambs are currently enjoying a fine run of form which has seen them go five matches unbeaten in the Southern League Division One South.  Back-to-back wins with 3 clean sheets in a row has seen Tavistock AFC climb up to 11th place in the table. After a 0-0 draw against Westbury United in our last home game was followed up with a 1-0 win away to Devon neighbours Exmouth Town before a 2-0 win away to Paulton Rovers last Saturday. Returning to Langsford Park gives The Lambs another chance to continue their fine form when we welcome Bishops Cleeve FC.  Currently occupying 7th position and sitting just 1 point outside the top 5 our opponents have enjoyed a good start to the season. After 5 home games on the spin with no away game since 16th September, The Mitres will be making the long journey south down the M5 and A386 after having a respectable start to the league season themselves. The 2021/22 Hellenic League Champions enjoyed a good season last season having finished in 9th position, just 6 points behind The Lambs. In the reverse fixture last season Tavistock emerged as 4-1 winners with Ben Cross adding to his list of goal of season contenders. However Bishops Cleeve were the winners in the previous tie between two sides back in February securing a 4-2 victory on their home patch.  The Gloucestershire side have enjoyed some success on the road already this season. From their 3 away games so far, they have picked up 6 points (2 wins and 1 loss) scoring 5 and conceded 6. As indicated by their last 5 results, Bishops Cleeve do enjoy a game with plenty of goals! Their 8 league matches so far have had 35 goals in them, with 16 scored and 19 conceded. Plenty of firepower is backed up by the regular goalscoring of forwards Ross Langworthy, ex Melksham Town man Jay Malshanskyj and former Slimbridge striker Ethan Dunbar (other notable mentions go to Toby Holland and Harrison Reeves).  Last 5 results: Saturday 14th October – Bishops Cleeve 3-2 Westbury Utd – Southern League Div One South Saturday 7th October – Bishops Cleeve 1-5 Frome Town – Southern League Div One South Saturday 30th September – Bishops Cleeve 1-4 Exmouth Town – Southern League Div One South Tuesday 26th September – Bishops Cleeve 2-2 Yate Town – Southern League Div One South Saturday 23rd September – Bishops Cleeve 3-2 Bristol Manor Farm – FA Trophy  Match information: Ticket prices are as follows: Adults: £10 Concessions (13-17 & over 65): £6 Under 12s accompanied with an adult: FREE Limited free parking is available within the compound at Langsford Park.
