Match Preview: Bristol Manor Farm vs Tavistock AFC

Lambs looking for seventh heaven after a two week break.

Tavistock AFC will be looking to make it seven league matches without defeat when they get back to action after two weeks without a fixture.

With no game on Saturday 28th October as Hamworthy United have withdrawn from the league and last weekend at home to Melksham Town being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch The Lambs will be keen to get back to playing football and continue their recent good form.

Six Southern League Division One South matches undefeated for Tavistock has seen a continued rise up the table and at the time of writing The Lambs currently sit in 11th position. A journey up the M5 this Saturday will see Tavistock take on Bristol Manor Farm FC at The Creek.

The Farmy Army are enjoying a much-improved season so far and sit in 7th place having achieved 16 points from their opening 12 league matches. That currently puts them just 2 points ahead of The Lambs having played 3 games more. Recent form has been a bit of a mixed bag for the Bristol side however they have potentially steadied the ship with 4 points from their previous two games which included a 3-2 win away to our Devon neighbours Exmouth Town before a 1-1 draw at home last weekend against Bishops Cleeve.

From their six home games in the league so far this season Bristol Manor Farm have accumulated 6 points (1 win, 3 draws & 2 defeats). With 22 goal involvements at their home matches it would seem that our opponents aren’t strangers to a potential goal fest! A quick glance at their recent results shows that goals are spread amongst the side. Top scorers Evander Grubb and former Keynsham Town and Merthyr Town forward Owen Brain both currently sit on 4 goals, with George Kellow and Jayden Nielsen both chipping in with a couple of goals each.

Last season saw both sides both win their away matches against one another. At Langsford Park back in February saw The Lambs fall to a 3-1 home defeat against The Portwaymen. The two sides then met just a few weeks later up in Bristol which saw Tavistock earn revenge after goals from Tallan Burns and Liam Prynn ensured a 2-1 win for The Lambs. As mentioned above our opponents are having an improved start to the season this year. The Bristol side ended last season just one place above the automatic relegation spaces and had to beat our Cornish neighbours Saltash United in a one-legged play off match to ensure they survived to compete again this season at step 4.
