Match Preview: Evesham Utd vs Tavistock AFC

Back-to-back 3-2 victories, five wins in a row and eight unbeaten for The Lambs.

After a second straight 3-2 victory away from home last weekend, Tavistock AFC made it five league wins in a row which has stretched their unbeaten run to eight league matches.

Last Saturday The Lambs travelled to Wiltshire outfit Westbury United and came away victorious, with goals from Alex Battle, Liam Prynn and Mitch Beardmore ensured the Devon side a well-deserved 3 points away from home. The recent good run of results have seen Tavistock climb up to sixth position and just one place outside of the play-off places.

This Saturday presents yet another away game for Tavistock AFC who will be looking to continue their recent good form. Standing in our away will be Evesham United who themselves are in much improved and good form. After ending last season in fourth place, The Robins made a slower start to this season, but recent results have picked up and they currently sit in tenth place with 17 points from their opening 14 matches. With only the one defeat in their last five matches, have no doubt that two of the in-form sides in the league will put on a good show for the supporters attending.

November appears to have been a very good month for Evesham United by picking up eight points from their last four matches. Key defender Charlie Wise has returned to the club to bolster the defence and as detailed below you will see they are taking some points from some of the more difficult away games. On Tuesday evening Evesham United hosted Larkhall Athletic, despite having defender Daniel Djurovic sent off they secured a point to stretch their unbeaten run to four matches. Other recent results make good reading for the Worcestershire side – last Saturday saw a very impressive 3-1 victory away to Mousehole even with Williams Owens receiving a red card and during the first week of November they dispatched Yate Town 5-1 away from home after a 0-0 draw away to Cribbs FC.

However, despite the recent upturn in form it would be fair to suggest the home form has room for improvement. In their six home league matches so far this season, a 2-0 win against Bashley FC last month is their only win so far this season at The Spiers & Hartwell Stadium. Goalless draws against Westbury United, Wimborne Town and Larkhall Athletic as well as narrow 2-1 defeats against Bristol Manor Farm and Bideford mean there has only been eight goals (scored 4, conceded 4) in these six matches.

When the two sides met in the same fixture last season it was The Lambs who came away victorious. A first-half goal from Captain Ed Harrison was enough to secure Tavistock a 1-0 victory back in April.
