The Lambs had to field several players suffering from minor injuries, but captain Lewis Daw failed a late fitness test which resulted in new signing Grant making his debut for the club.

The Lambs had the ball,in the net in the 7th minute when a Glyn Hobbs shot was deflected into the path of Rosenquest, but he was adjudged to be in an off side position, so his effort was ruled out.

Josh Oak was then called into action to make a save to deny Dameral from giving the Torpoint the lead. The game was being played at a very high tempo with both sides producing some fine football.

The first half saw both defences in fine form  with Torpoint keeper Piper in fine form, he was quick off his line to collect the ball before Rosenqust could get on the end of a great through ball from Steve Rogers.

The Lambs were finding difficult to get their flowing passing game going as the hosts gave them no time on the ball by pressing high up the pitch. The game continued to flow from end to end, but neither side could find a breakthrough so the first half was goalless.

Early in second half Josh Oak made a fine save to Young from scoring for the hosts. The Lambs then started to get the upper hand, as they got their passing game going playing some delightful football. Following a good move a fine pass from Ben Cross found Hobbs, his shot on the turn flew inches over the bar.

Glynn Hobbs was one of the Tavy players playing with an injury, but still showed his class an energy, to score with a terrific strike from twenty yards low into the corner of the net, giving Piper no chance of saving.

The Lambs defence were in fine form and were determined to keep a clean sheet. Oak produced a fine save to deny Young.  Luke Brown then made a great run down the left, his fine cross into the penalty area was inches out of the reach of the on rushing Hobbs.

The hosts worked extremely hard and showed why they have had a recent run of good results. The Lambs had that all round ability to keep them at bay, and cause the home defence some real problems over the ninety minutes, and were deserved winners of this league cup tie.

This was another fine workman like performance, and although not at their best they were deserved winners. The Lambs will now be at home to either Crediton or Budleigh in the next round.
