The Lambs had to make changes as Dave Hallett had not recovered from injury, and Lewis Daw was only fit enough to make the subs bench.
It was Torpoint that made the early running and Josh Oak was made to make a great save pushing the ball away for a corner kick. The Lambs then got their passing game going as a fine move saw Steve Rogers find Luke Brown, his pass found Glynn Hobbs, but his pass was inches out of the reach of Jack Crago. Jack Crago then went on another penetrating run that saw him brought down in the penalty area. Glynn Hobs thundered home the spot to give the Lambs the lead in the fourteenth minute. Minutes later a great ball from Steve Rogers saw Crago’s header go inches over the bar.
From a free kick Torpoint’s Thrornton header was well saved by Josh Oak.
Play remained very even with both teams creating half chances, as the Lambs struggled to get their free flowing game going as Torpoint gave them no time on the ball closing them down high up the pitch. The Lambs went into the interval leading by the only goal.
Torpoint equalised in the 52nd minute when a shot from Tattersall took a wicked deflection off Warren Daw, the ball looped over the well positioned Josh Oak,and dropped just under the cross bar into the goal. Three minutes later Jack Crago flashed a shot inches over the bar.
Torpoint took the lead in the 65th minute when Steve Rogers lost possession in midfield, a fine pass saw Tattersall in on goal he flashed the ball pass Josh Oak. The Lambs responded well, and nearly equalised when Glynn Hobbs shot wide of the target ten minutes later.
Things got worse for the Lambs when Glynn Hobbs was adjudged to have fouled the home keeper when going for the ball in a fifty, fifty challenge for the ball and was shown a red card. This stirred the Lambs into action, the ten men they pushed forward to put the home defence under considerable pressure in the last ten minutes. Manager Stuart Henderson immediately brought on Lewis Daw and pushed the big centre back up front, this had a great effect, as his aerial power caused the home defence real problems.
The Lambs deserved their equaliser which was a well worked goal. A good move saw Luke Brown fouled on the edge of the penalty area, Josh Robins found the far corner of the net with a fine drive. The Lambs almost scored in time added on, but had to be content with a draw.
This was a disappointing result for the Lambs, as they could have gone top of the table had they secured a victory. The team were not at their best and Torpoint played at a great tempo and great enthusiasm giving the visitors little time to bring the free flowing passing game to their normal very high standard.
