The Lambs travelled to Southern League Bridgwater last Friday and came away with a fully deserved victory over a club two tiers higher in the F A pyramid.

The Lambs got off to a terrific start and played some great football, and deservedly took the lead in the 7th minute. Ben Cross played a great pass to release Rosenquest on the right, who provided the perfect cross for Lewis Coombes to fire home.

The home team had a couple of efforts from long range but they were both wide of the target. Bridgwater equalised on twenty minutes when the Lambs failed to clear a corner kick, the ball fell to the home team centre back who fired home from eight yards. Ten minutes later the Lambs restored their lead when another fine passing move saw Steve Rogers exchange passes providing the perfect pass to put Coombes in on goal he beat the advancing keeper with aplomb from 18 yards.

On the half hour Jack Ord was called on to make a great save to deny the home team levelling the scores. Two minutes later the Lambs increased their lead when following a fine move Lewis Coombes showed great close control and beat three defenders before shooting low into the corner of the net to complete his hat trick.

Another eye catching move involving Steve Rogers, Shane Krac and Shepard resulted in a fierce shot from Rosenquest, brilliantly saved by the home keeper.

On the stroke of half time another penetrating move saw Shepard provide a defence splitting pass that saw Lewis Coombes and the home keeper go into a 50/50 challenge for the ball. Unfortunately Coombes was badly injured and was stretchered off with a serious leg injury, and taken to hospital.

The home team upped their tempo in the second half and reduced the arrears in the 55th minute when they were awarded a free kick twenty four yards from goal, the thunderous kick flew into the top corner of the net.

Within two minutes the Lambs restored their two goal advantage when a flowing move saw Steve Rogers produce a magnificent volley from twenty that flashed into the top corner of the net. The game was now flowing from end to end but the Lambs were the team that were more likely to increase their lead. A fine run from Josh Robins saw his cross inches out of the reach of the on rushing Jack Crago.

In the 66th minute Jack Oak made a terrific save to deny the home team from reducing their arrears. The Lambs went close on three other occasions during the last ten minutes with Crago, Krac, and Rogers all going close.

This was a terrific performance by the team against a team in the Southern League. The Lambs played some delightful football. Everyone in the squad played their part with some great individual performances. All bodes well for the coming season if the team can maintain this level of play.

The game was marred by the injury to Lewis Coombes, as it was later confirmed that he had suffered a double fracture of his leg. Everyone at the club extend their best wishes to Lewis for a speedy recovery
