Regular reporter Derek Pethick failed a morning fitness test and deemed himself “Unfit to Travel”

The Lambs quill has therefore been passed onto yours truly writes Eric Pinch.

Centre backs Dan Evans and Captain Lewis Daw, the injured Warren Daw, Alex Cairo and Jack Crago all returned to the starting line up as Assistant Manager Ken Ord rotated the squad in this congested end of season fixture pile up.

It was a windy, bumpy and uncut playing surface with faded markings and daisies sprouting up all over the pitch.

But this did not deter the Lambs as they went about their business from the kick off. On 8 mins Crago collected the ball out wide and his jinking run into the area saw him fouled and up stepped Josh Grant to slot home from the spot. Crago came close again when from a Dave Hallett corner he saw keeper Fearn grab the ball at the second attempt.

The home side should have equalised on 18 minutes. Captain Lewis Daw’s wayward cross field pass was intercepted by Shepherd to stride forward, round keeper Josh Oak and send the ball into an unguarded net, but Daw redeemed himself getting back to clear off the line. 5 mins later they saw another chance go begging as Foster put his effort over the bar when well placed.

Cairo stabbed wide from a Grant cross before the Lambs increased their lead on the half hour. A Warren Daw ball over the defence had Fearns coming off his line on the corner of the penalty area but it was Crago who got to the ball to poke it past him and inside of the post. Further chances came the Lambs way prior to half time with the home side spurning another chance as Cole’s free kick went wide.

Godolphin’s best spell of the game came in the first 15 mins of the second half. Shepperd shot over before Jamie Lowry’s header came back off Oak’s post, Colquhoan effort flashed across the face of the goal and Gadney shot wide.

On the hour Liam Prynn’s run to the by-line saw the home side concede a corner and from it after a goal mouth scramble Grant hit the upright.

Again the home side had another chance to get back into the game with Colquhoan and Hartigan combining with the latter shooting over.

Substitution’s for the Lambs from the in a 10 minute spell saw Tyler Elliot, Tallon Burns and Kelvin Fyneboy replace Prynn, Alex cairo and Crago.

It was in the final 10 minutes that the Lambs stamped their authority on the game. Josh Robbins latched onto a throw in on the half way line to stride forward and from fully 30 yards/metres lashed the ball into the net. % minutes later it was 4 as Elliot crossed for Warren Daw to head home at the far post. Burns then made it 5 with a crisp finish from the edge of the area. A Burns run saw Grant’s close range effort stopped by Fearns, he then came to the rescue as he kept another Robbins effort out with his foot. But it was full back Corey Burns to round off the day with yet another as Elliot put him in on goal to coolly finish.
