The game got off to a fast start with both teams playing some fine football. The Lambs went close to opening the scoring when a cross from Josh Grant found Liam Prynn, but his fine effort flashed inches wide of the target.
Elburton responded when both Carter and Tattershall went close. The Lambs continued to dominate possession but were finding difficult to break down a resolute Elburton defence. Both Liam Prynn and Tallan Burns had efforts saved by Dixon in the visitors goal.
Just before the interval Lewis Daw saw his fine header from a corner kick flash inches wide of the target, the continued to press but were unable to get that illusive goal before the interval.
The second half saw an Elburton team that was gaining in confidence, May in the home goal made a fine save to deny Tattershall from giving them the lead.
Back came the Lambs and they broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when Josh Robins provided a superb cross for Warren Daw to power home a fine header.
On the hour Jack Crago replaced Luke Brown. Shortly afterwards the home team nearly doubled their lead when a long range shot from Lewis Daw was turned away for a corner kick, from the kick Warrens fine header hit the crossbar and was scrambled clear of danger.
Carter then went close for Elburton who, were now putting more pressure on the home defence, looking dangerous with their speedy counter attacks. Reece Shanley then replaced Tallan Burns.
Just as looked as if the Lambs were going to see the game out Elburton scored a stunning equaliser. A counter attack saw the ball find Josh Tattershall on the angle of the penalty area he unleashed an unstoppable thunderbolt shot that went into the net between upright and crossbar.
A disappointing result and a real set back to the Lambs title aspirations, the team performance was not up to their usual high standards.
Man of the Match Dave Hallett. Manager Stuart Henderson said ” A fine display from Dave Hallett allowed the Lambs to dominate possession. He was instrumental in setting up opportunities for the team.” He was disappointed that we couldn’t manage the game when we were 1-0 up and in control.A little nativity on our part, we don’t need to take unnecessary risks, when the priority should be to defend what we have, at such a stage in the game.
