The Lambs were without Josh Oak, Lewis and Warren Daw all unavailable. Josh Robins who took a knock in the mid week fixture was on the substitutions bench. It was great to see Dan Evans return to the starting line after overcoming a long term knee injury, along with Taylor Elliot and Reece Shanley and Sam Davey making the starting eleven.
The game was fairly even in the opening half hour with the Lambs having the lions share of possession, but were finding it difficult to break down a resolute Camelford defence. The nearest they came to opening the scoring was a fine overhead kick by Sam Davey that went inches wide of the target.
The visitors were restricted to counter attacks and the nearest they came to scoring was from a free kick Lloyd headed over the bar.
In the 35th minute a terrific drive by Tyler Elliot was tipped over the bar by visitors keeper Oldaker, from the corner kick Josh Grant’s header was saved by the keeper.
The Lambs took, the lead in the 42nd minute when a fine move saw the ball, find Tyler Elliot his magnificent pass between the goal line and inside the six yard box resulted in a last ditch effort by a defender to prevent the ball finding Josh Grant turning the ball into his own net.
Camelford made an immediate impact at the start of the second half when they levelled the score in the 48th minute, when Harrison found himself unmarked and he made no mistake placing his shot into the corner of the net. Four minutes later the Lambs found themselves behind when a fine counter attack move opened up the defence for Kempthorne to fire home from twelve yards.
This setback stirred the Lambs into action and they immediately up the tempo of their play and levelled the score in the 57th minute, when a fine move resulted in Tyler Elliott his fine pass was rammed home by Josh Grant.
The Lambs were now showing their true colours playing some fine football. They took the regained the lead in the in the 67th minute when Jack Crago provide the perfect cross for Sam Davey glide the ball home from six yards.
Two minutes later Jack Crago saw his powerful header brilliantly saved by Oldaker.
Josh Robins then replaced Ben Davies, he was soon in the action prompting attacks down the left flank.
Camelford still produced some lively counter attacks with Boxall firing just wide of the target. Back came the Lambs, a great move with Josh Grant finding Reece Shanley, but his fine effort was well saved by Oldaker.
Josh Grant then spurned a great chance to make the game safe in the 80th minute following some fine work by Crago, providing the perfect cross inside the six yard box but he lifted his shot over the bar from three yards.
Camelford continued to try and find that equaliser but the home defence remained firm to ensure the victory to take the three vital points.
The Lambs recent sticky time continued after drawing with Elburton they had to come from behind against lowly Camelford. The Lambs faced a major test of character and showed they were up to the challenge, even though they were not at their best performance wise. They remain nine points behind Exmouth with three games in hand so next week’s game against Newquay is a huge game.
