The Lambs put a terrific performance to deservedly win this F A Cup replay with Captain Josh Oak returned from injury to take over the goalkeeping duties.
Play was even in the opening minutes, but it was the Lambs that got the all-important breakthrough in the 12th minute. A fine passing saw the ball find Reece Shanley on the right, his perfect cross saw Jack Crago head home from six yards.
Play continued to flow from end to end. Shepton spurned a good chance to level the scores but the centre forward headed over the bar. The home team continued to press but the Lambs defence were in fine form, and with Josh Oak in great form commanding his area, collecting any dangerous crosses they went into the interval leading by a single goal The Lambs started the second period and started to control the game. A Tallan Burns thunderbolt was brilliantly turned away for a corner kick by the home keeper The Lambs kept pushing forward and doubled their lead in the 64th minute when from a Dave Hallett corner kick Jack Crago Climbed high to power home a magnificent header into the top corner of the net.
Minutes later it looked as if the Lambs had made the game safe but Liam Prynn’s great strike was ruled out by an off side decision.
The Lambs continued to look the more likely side to core but Shepton continued to look dangerous on the counter attack. The home team reduced the deficit against the run of play, with ten minutes remaining. This lifted the home team and they pressed for the equaliser.
The Lambs defence stood firm and with Josh Oak making a couple of really important saves, they achieved the win they thoroughly deserved, and progress to the next round.
A great team effort with everyone on their best form and deserve a pat on the back.
