Tavistock AFC 0, Bashley F C 2 – report by Eric Pinch

A disappointing night under the Langsford Park floodlights as the Lambs suffer two defeats in four days, both away and at home. Captain Ben Cross returned in place of Brandon Pursall with Dan Evans replacing Mike Landricombe just prior to kick off.
It was a lively start from both sides with good chances to score; Liam Prynn got on the end of a bouncing through-ball to lob keeper Ross Casey for the ball to go agonisingly close to finding the net; Josh Grant shot just over from a Iestyn Harris cross, with Warren Daw clearing off the line from an Antonio Diaz effort all in the opening minutes.
Adam Grange headed just over on 18 minutes for the visitors, then from a Joe O’Connor corner Taylor Scarff’s header went just wide of the post. Josh Oak then pulled off a great save to keep the score goalless as he tipped a headed goal-bound effort from Sam Jackson over the bar.
Grant would volley over before the visitors took the lead right on the stroke of half time, as a high ball from out wide was not dealt with, for Frankie Monk to collect and squeeze his effort just inside the near post.
An even first half with the Lambs not deserving to go in one goal down at half time.

Alex Battle came on at the start of the second half replacing Adam McPherson, and there was an early chance as Grant slipped the ball into the path of Prynn, but the keeper easily gathered his effort, and then Grant saw his effort hit the side netting.
The Lambs were certainly having a go to get back on level terms during this second half with a great effort from Battle shooting from long range only to see it come back off the crossbar, followed by Cross’s long range effort being tipped over the bar on 75 minutes.
The Lambs continued to press but were undone with just three minutes remaining as Oliver Balmer worked his way into the penalty area to slot wide of Oak.
