It was top v bottom of the Southern League Div. 1 South for this F A Trophy tie. The Lambs last game was in the previous round a fortnight earlier with victory over Yate F C, whereas the Seagulls of Mousehole were coming off a 5 nil defeat the previous week in the F A Cup against Salisbury.
With the wind in their backs it was the Lambs who had the better of the first half taking the game to the visitors and could, should have taken the lead but once again failed to convert their early chances. Tallon Burns shot just wide on 3 minutes, Mousehole’s keeper Ollie Chenoweth denied Liam Prynn when put through with Lambs keeper Aaron Dearing clearing a through ball from the hosts.
From a Tallan Mitchell cross former Lambs player Brandon Purcell shot wide, on 18 minutes they had the ball in the Lambs net but it was ruled out for offside. From a Tallon Burns corner Adam McPherson turned and shot wide.
A good chance for the home side came on 25 minutes after a good move set up Marc Goldsworthy in front of goal but his effort lacked power and was easily dealt with by Dearing.
Lambs Captain Ed Harrison then had a couple of chances with a shot going wide and from a Iestyn Harris throw his volley sailed over the bar. The home side came into the game a little more as the first half came to a close, Josh Bissett shot wide when well placed and the Lambs recovered possession high up the pitch for Alex Battle to shoot just wide.
The Lambs would pay dearly for these missed opportunities right on the stroke of half time, Bissett got himself into the area and McPherson in an attempt to get in a tackle could only foul with the referee pointing to the spot. Up stepped Hayden Turner and despite Dearing going the right way the ball settled into the net for what could be described an undeserved lead at half time.
The home side started the second half a little more assertive, Harrison’s shot was charged down before they doubled their advantage, a swift counter attack down the right saw the ball played across the back line for Goldsworthy to have the simple task of a tap in at the far post.
Battle then played in Prynn but his effort was deflected by Chenoweth for a corner and from it Harrison headed just wide, McPherson saw another chance go wide, Battle then got goal side of the defence but a last ditch tackle prevented a goal.
The home side sealed and put the game to bed on 80 minutes, a stray ball was seized upon by Turner to set up sub Tom Nixon to fire home from 12 yards.
